Happy Birthday, Mom!

Not only was today Easter, but it was also my Mom's birthday and since she pointed out that her birthday won't fall on Easter for another 5.3 million years, I figured I better make her a pretty special birthday cake.

Thirsty, Anyone?

This cake was made for a special birthday this week. I hope it "quenches" your thirst!

Easter Fun Continues

You can't bake for 2 weeks and not do some cake pops. I am really excited to share these with my friend Adrianne.

Tip Toe Through the Tulips

This weekend, I made several dozen cookies for my school's Easter Egg Hunt's bake sale. Here are some of the highlights. Hopefully, everyone liked the cookies more than my daughter liked the Easter Bunny!

Boys vs. Girls

This week I had a fun order for birthday treats for a wonderful 8 year old. She is a very girly girl and wanted high heel shoe cookies, but you know you can't give 8 year old boys high heel shoe treats, so I also got to make wii remotes. How fun!

Lights! Camera! Action!

Wow, was this a fun cake to make. Each layer is filled with cake: red velvet, chocolate and yellow. This was also the first time I tried adding mayo to my cakes and I really loved the moistness it added. They were very tasty and I will definitely be continuing with that recipe.

Other good news... the blog will be getting a face lift this month. Be sure to check back to see the new design!

Bunny Slippers

If you haven't ever checked out My Cake School online, you're missing out. These adorable little slippers were featured on their site. I have been looking forward to making this mini cake for weeks and I couldn't be more pleased with the results. To achieve the textured slipper fabric, I ended up using a towel because I didn't have the shelf liner. Either would work well!

In Like a Lion out like a lamb? I think not!

The weather here in northern Illinois definitely has not been very spring like. Today was our warmest day of the season, topping at 50 degrees and WINDY!!! Of course next week I go back to work and it will probably be nicer then.
